I like both your reaction fics. Nucky's voice rings very true to me, like how his mind immediately jumps to damage control and retaliation, which is definitely how Nucky would react to the situation.
My favorite part is when his train of thought turns to Jimmy. It echoes and continues what went through Nucky's mind in the episode. I don't usually see Nucky as sentimental - he's good at keeping personal feelings at bay - but at this moment, maybe his most powerless since the pilot, Jimmy springs to his mind. This speaks volumes, for though S1 has already shown us that Nucky could be rather soft on Jimmy we don't really get to see how much he cares about the kid. I also like that Nucky inadvertently relates Jimmy to Mabel. It makes sense that the two persons of his greatest regrets naturally come to mind when he’s at his most vulnerable and unsure. Nucky may be a politician through and through, but he's still a person with feelings, a man who carries burden from his past.
